Gini Wijnaldum could have the peace of mind and be focused with Netherlands as Liverpool have reportedly rubbished contact with Barcelona over his transfer.
Spanish media reports announced on Tuesday that La Liga giants Barcelona FC have agreed terms with Premier League champions over a possible switch of Gini Wijnaldum from Anfield.
Moreover, an agreement between £13 million and £18 million with Barca setting the level not to exceed £20 million, was announced between both parties.
However, earlier Liverpool sources on Wednesday has reported that the current England kings did not engage talks with Josep Bartomeu’s club.
This said, Liverpool would be focused on reaching an agreement with their 29-year-old midfielder as there is just one year left in his current deal with the Reds.
Arrived in the Merseyside club back to 2016 on a five-year deal worth £24 million, Gini scored 19 goals and provided 16 assists in 187 appearances with Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has not tell a lot about Gini Wijnaldum’s contarct extension. As former Dortmund boss said the Dutch midfielder is blossoming at Anfield.
“That’s an open contract situation, obviously, otherwise we would know,” Klopp said, per Mirror.
“That means we don’t talk about it, that’s all. I never did, so why should I change it now? That’s all between us and the player, and all these kinds of things.
“It’s all good in the moment, it’s all fine. Gini looked very good in the pre-season, played obviously a couple of good seasons for us, so that’s all I can say about that.”
In addition, Liverpool will have to let go of one of his players to pocket much money to fund Thiago Alcantara’s switch from Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich midfielder has been linked with a move these days at Liverpool.
However, Reds officials don’t intend to spend much money in this transfer window. And Manchester United enter race for the Spanish playmaker, reports the Daily Mirror.
Meantime, Sadio Mane is also pleasing Barcelona. And Liverpool have the choice to either seal their stars’ future at the club or open the exit door for them.
