Bruno Fernandes to captain Manchester United against PSG tonight

Bruno Fernandes has been handed the captain role by Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Harry Maguire will miss their first 2020/21 UEFA Champions league group stage clash against French giants Paris Saint-Germain (7pm) due to an injury.

Five Manchester United players namely Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Mason Greenwood, Jesse Lingard and new boy Edinson Cavani will miss out tonight game against beaten last season’s beaten finalists. Arrived just in January at Old Trafford, Bruno Fernandes will then captain Red Devils at Parc des Princes.

Ole himself announced it in his pre-match conference on Monday alongside the Portuguese playmaker.

“We hope Harry will be fit for the weekend [for the Chelsea game] but we’re not sure,” Solskjaer told reporters in Paris. “The captain is sitting next to me. Bruno will captain the team tomorrow [Tuesday].” Solskjaer told the media.

Reacting to Ole’s announcement, Bruno Fernandes said he was not expecting to be given such a great role. However, he did not miss to put the team’s objective frontwards.

“I was not expecting this,” Bruno admitted. “I know the same time as you. Of course, for me, it’s an honour I will be captain for my team-mates and being captain of Manchester United is important for me.

“I think the captain is everybody and everyone needs to help; everyone needs to be a leader. The leadership is different in every player. Tomorrow will not be about me, it’s about the team. Leading the team is every day in the training ground, every training, every game, and I think everyone is doing their own job to lead the team in the way they think is the best.”

In addition, Manchester United will host Chelsea on Saturday (4:30pm) in Premier League. A decisive week for the Red Devils.
